Through the Years

Factory Paint & Decorating’s History

Upon returning from WW II, Edmund Laniewski, striving for the American Dream for himself and his family, started selling paint out of his automobile in the mid 1940’s. He would purchase paint from local factories and drive to contractor job sites in hopes of selling the paint. Once Edmund generated enough capital he purchased a small ice cream shop in South Weymouth which he converted to the first store. Factory Paint Stores was incorporated on December 7, 1949. Edmund and his wife Marion were always quality conscious and were proud to sell quality brand named products. That has carried through to today as Factory Paint & Decorating offers outstanding brands whether it is paint, stain, wallpaper, carpet or window treatments. After 70 years the company is still family and locally operated by Edmund and Marion’ two sons, Dana and Rodney.

Over the years, Factory Paint & Decorating has established itself as the South Shore’s number one resource for home improvement and interior design. The family of 40 dependable employees from local communities at Factory Paint & Decorating have been with the company from five to 35 years. This means you can learn from our friendly, knowledgeable team! We are a lot more than just your neighborhood paint and decorating store.
